Hubert Hurkacz’s run continued Friday at the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, thanks to some unconventional on-court tactics.
Hurkacz, the fifth seed, outlasted Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-6(2, 7-6(4) in both tie-breaks to reach his third semi-final of the season at the ATP 500 event.
After an absorbing one hour, 47 minutes, the Pole won a match with no breaks of serve and only one break point, but Hurkacz later admitted that his inability to make a dent in the Canadian’s serve had led to him trying something different in return games on OWL Arena.
In a press conference after the match, Hurkacz had revealed that he kept guessing wrong in the middle of the second set and that he had to use a different approach to get a win from one of his toughest fixtures.
The 25-year-old Polish national is currently single however, due to the kind of private life he lives most fans want to know who their icon is being dating all these years.
