Known simply as Munir, Moroccan goalkeeper Munir Mohand Mohamedi El Kajoui (born May 10, 1989) competes for both the Moroccan national team and Saudi Arabian club Al Wehda.
Munir began the entire tournament in front of Yassine Bounou after being added to Hervé Renard’s 23-man roster on December 29, 2016, for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Additionally, he was chosen to represent the United States at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. On June 15, he made his tournament debut against Iran in a 1-0 loss.
Munir was also selected for the 2022 World Cup, the 2019 and 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, and other competitions.
He took Yassine Bounou’s position when the tournament’s starter fell unwell just before the game against Belgium in the group stage and helped the team to a 2-0 victory in Doha.
