Shelly Vilsaint, of Bayonne, New Jersey Died in a multi-vehicle crash in The Bronx

The victim of Tuesday morning’s deadly catastrophic car accident in New York has been identified as Shelly Vilsaint of Bayonne, New Jersey.

Early on Tuesday morning in The Bronx, a multi-vehicle collision claimed the life of 49-year-old Vilsaint.

According to accounts, at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Vilsaint was driving a Range Rover near University Avenue on the Cross Bronx Expressway when the vehicle collided with a halted tractor-trailer hauling mail. A second huge rig then rear-ended the Range Rover. Then, all three of the vehicles caught fire.

Vilsaint was declared dead at the scene from blunt force trauma and heat burns.

In the collision, the truck drivers escaped unharmed.

No one was cited at the scene, and no charges have been brought.

Vilsaint worked as a special education instructor in the district-run schools in New York City.
