The aircraft in question was en route from Bowling Green to Owensboro and was carrying two individuals—a student pilot and an instructor.
It’s important to note that the area was experiencing a powerful rainstorm at the time of the alleged crash. In response, a collaborative effort was launched by the Daviess County and Ohio County sheriff’s offices to conduct a search and rescue operation.
The Kentucky State Police, along with various other agencies including Daviess County Fire, Whitesville Fire Department, Daviess County and Ohio County Emergency Management, and Ohio County EMS, established a command post to coordinate search efforts. As weather conditions improved, the operation utilized three drones and an airplane to assist in locating the missing aircraft.
In a significant development, search teams uncovered aircraft-related paperwork in a densely wooded area behind New Panther Creek Church on Highway 764 in Ohio County. Subsequently, at approximately 9:38 a.m. on Thursday, two bodies were discovered along KY 764. Although the names of the deceased have not yet been publicly disclosed, it has been confirmed that the student instructor was Junior McKellar from Custer, Kentucky.
