German geomorphologist and geologist Walther Penck, the son of geographer Albrecht Penck, is remembered for his extensive research on landform evolution. He orimarily criticized and modified the Davisian cycle of erosion and taught at the universities of Constantinople and Leipzig. A volcano in northwestern Argentina has been named after him.
