Tragic Accident Claims the Life of Wayne Haupt, Driver Flees the Scene

The incident occurred on the evening of September 6, 2023, at the Exit 36 Truckstop in Plattsburgh, New York. Wayne Haupt, a 53-year-old resident of Albany, New York, was struck by a vehicle driven by Thomas Lance. This heartbreaking incident resulted in Wayne Haupt sustaining fatal injuries.
In a distressing turn of events, Thomas Lance fled the scene following the accident. However, he was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement authorities and is now facing charges of second-degree murder.
Wayne Haupt was rushed to the hospital, but despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. To determine the exact cause of his untimely passing, an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, September 8, 2023.
