Coach and former player Mel Tucker plays American football. At Michigan State University, where he has been the head football coach since 2020, he is currently in that role. For the 2018–19 season, Tucker was Colorado’s head football coach.
With 27 years of coaching expertise, Tucker has won championships. He has served as the defensive backs coach at Alabama and Ohio State as well as the defensive coordinator for the University of Georgia and the NFL’s Chicago Bears.
Tucker guided Michigan State to an 11-2 record and a Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl victory in 2021. The National Coalition of Minority Football Coaches recognized him College Coach of the Year.
