Nina Nunes ‘The Strina’ is married to Amanda Nunes, one of the greatest female fighters of all time, who will undoubtedly be there to support her wife during and after the fight in San Diego.
Following a split decision victory over Cynthia Calvillo, the 12-year veteran announced her retirement on Saturday at UFC San Diego. Nunes removed her gloves and placed them in the center of the octagon as a symbolic gesture of retirement, before informing interviewer Daniel Cormier of her decision.
Nunes, 36, also stated that she and her wife, Amanda Nunes, want to have more children and expand their family. Raegan is the couple’s current child.

Aside from competing at 125 pounds for the first time, Nunes’ performance on Saturday was textbook. For the majority of the three-round fight, the striking specialist’s grappling defense was on point, and she consistently beat Calvillo to the punch in stand-up exchanges. The victory ended Nunes’ two-fight losing streak, which had lasted since June 2019.
Nunes finishes her professional career with an 11-7 record, including a 5-4 record in the UFC, and notable victories over former strawweight title challenger Claudia Gadelha and Angela Hill.
